I’m still on a bit of a high from spending two and a half weeks near the ocean. When I’m there, it’s a feeling like nothing else. There’s so much power in those waves and yet it has a mesmerizing, soothing effect in the rhythm and constancy of the tides. As I sat on Heceta Beach the day after we arrived on the coast, I was immediately transported to a place of wonder and calm that I would love to be able to bottle to bring home. This poem came that day on that beach. I will never get too much of that feeling.
Soft sand covering my feet,
Surface warm and cool beneath.
Steady roar of wave upon wave,
Cool sea breeze renews and saves.
Salty smells from frothy edges
Emerald cliffs with rocky ledges.
Seabirds float through breaks in fog;
A place to breathe on a driftwood log.
Heart opens, mind renews
Worries pause, troubles are few.
Connection made with Creation’s crown
Peace forgotten once again found.
Beautiful poem. Something about the ocean that soothes the soul.
You have expressed the beauty of the ocean so well that brings peace to so many 🌊🌊
